NIFT 2017 Admissions: CAT and GAT Dates Out
National Institute of Fashion Technology, Delhi has announced the NIFT admissions for 2017 academic year for UG (B.Des. and B.Ftech.) and PG programmes (M.Des., MFM and M.F.Tech.) offered at 16 campuses across India. All the admissions will be through NIFT GAT (General Ability Test) 2017 and NIFT CAT (Creative Ability Test) 2017, which are to be held on 12th February 2017 in morning and afternoon sessions. NIFT is offering courses in Design, Technology and Management disciplines and admissions are open to Indian and foreign nationals. There are 15% seats reserved for Foreign/NRI candidates and admission to the foreign nationals will be based on SAT scores for U.G programmes and GMAT/GRE scores for PG programmes. Foreign/NRI candidates are exempted from appearing GAT & CAT.
Candidates who studied 10+2 from any discipline are eligible for B.Des. (Bachelor of Design) and candidates who passed 10+2 with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry are eligible for B.F.Tech (Bachelor of Fashion Technology) .
Candidates shall have passed Bachelor Degree from any Institute/University recognized by law in India or Diploma of minimum 3 years duration in UG Design from National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) or National Institute of Design (NID) for eligibility to M.Des. and M.F.M programmes.
Candidates with Bachelor of Fashion Techology (B.F.Tech.) from National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) or Bachelor of Engineering (B.E )/ Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) from any institute / university recognized by law in India are eligible for M.F.Tech. (Master of Fashion Technology).
NIFT 2017 Admissions Application Process
All the candidates seeking admission (including Indian and Foreign) in NIFT for academic year 2017 have to register online. Application window will be available from 2nd November and last date for online registration is 10th January, 2017. Initially candidates have to create login by providing name, DOB, category, email id and programme preference. Candidates will receive acknowledgement via email, and email id and DOB provided during registration shall be used as user name and password for completing application.
Candidates shall login using email id and DOB to fill the application and it contains few steps. In first step “fill application” candidates have to fill personal details, contact details, communication details and have to select test centre where he/she wish to attend the GAT &CAT.
After filling the application candidates shall proceed to step 2 where candidates have to upload scanned copy of photograph and signature. All the scanned copies should be in JPEG format.
After upload of images candidates have to pay the application fee which is Rs.1500/- (Rs.750/- for SC/ST) which can be paid only through online. After successful payment of fee candidates have to take a printout of the filled application for future reference.
Candidates willing to join NIFT have to appear GAT or CAT or both depending on the course selected and exam will be conducted at 31 selected test centres.
