MICA Admission Test - MICAT 2017

MICA Admission Test widely known as MICAT conducted by MICA (Formerly Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad) is designed to test the candidate’s analytical, verbal, logical, written communication and general awareness skills in media and advertising areas. MICA is one of the pioneered institutes offering PGDM – C program with Brand Management, Advertising management, Marketing Research and Analytics, Media Management, Digital Communication Management and Development Management & Social Enterprise as specializations at second year of program. Admission to the PGDM – C program will be through MICAT scores and MICAT will be conducted twice in an academic year i.e., in December and January.  

Eligibility

Candidates shall posses a bachelor degree or equivalent from any discipline recognized by Association of Indian Universities (AIU).  Candidates appearing final year qualifying exam are also eligible to apply. Candidates who have one of the required CAT/XAT/GMAT scores are eligible for admissions through MICAT.

Selection Process for PGDM – C

MICA conducts a stringent (MICAT) test to validate the candidature and a psychometric process to evaluate the candidate’s relevant strengths and employment suitability.  Candidates who qualified in the psychometric process shall further assessed  in Verbal ability (VA), Quantitative ability (QA), General awareness (GA)  and  Divergent-Convergent Reasoning (DCR) and who scored minimum cut off marks, will be assed in descriptive test. Descriptive test shall be considered for short listing of the candidates for GE & PI.  Final selection of candidates will be based on performance in Group Exercise (GE) and Personal Interview (PI). Merit list will be based on 50% weightage of MICAT scores, 18% weight age of GE, 30% weight age of PI and 2% weight age will be given to scaled scores of CAT/XAT/GMAT.

MICAT Test Pattern

MICAT is computer based test conducted for duration of 125 minutes. The CBT test contain questions from topics like Psychometric (P), Verbal ability (VA), Quantitative ability (QA), General awareness (GA) , Divergent-Convergent Reasoning (DCR) and Descriptive Test (DT). MICAT test paper has 2 sections and section 1 is descriptive type which consists of 4 questions on writing arguments, story writing and essay writing. Section 2 further divided into 3 parts, part 1 is psychometric test containing 30 questions (which is only qualifier), part 2 is reasoning & verbal ability (35) and part 3 is general knowledge contains 25 questions. All sections will have a total of 94 questions and score for MICAT will be declared in percentile. There is no negative marking for section 1 and psychometric test and rest of the parts will have 1/4 of the mark as negative marking.   

MICAT 2017

MICA has released the notification for MICAT 2017 and online applications are accepted from 30th September 2016 for MICAT - 1. As MICAT is conducted twice in a year, candidates willing to appear both the exams have to apply separately. Online applications for MICAT – 1 are accepted till 25th of November, 2016. Candidates have to pay a sum of Rs 1965/- as application fee for MICAT – 1. Exam for MICAT -1 will be held on 11th December 2016. Registration for MICAT – 2 will be available from 3rd January 2017 and registration will be closed on 31st January 2017. MICAT-2 exam will be conducted on 12th Febraury, 2017. Short list for GE & PI will be announced on 23rd February 2017 and final results and merit list will be published on 31st March 2017.

MICAT 2017 Application Process

Aspirants for MICAT 2017 can apply through online and online application window will be available from first week of October for MICAT -1 and 3rd January 2017 for MICAT -2. Candidates willing to apply online have to register to start with filling application form. After successful registration candidates will receive MICA user id and password which will be useful for future logins. Candidates have to fill personal details like DOB, nationality, correspondence address, contact details and 3 test center choices along with place where candidates wish to attend for GE & PI to complete the “personal details section”.

After completing “personal details” section, candidates have to furnish complete academic details of 10th, 10+2, graduation, P.G. and details about work experience (if any) to complete the “qualification details” section. System will prompt for CAT2016/XAT2017/GMAT(2015 or later) scores and candidates have to select for the appropriate exam which he/she is going to take and have to update the scores once they receive. Candidates have to upload the soft copy of photograph and scanned signature to proceed for the payment section. Candidate has to pay a sum of Rs 1965/- as application fee by credit card/debit card/net banking to complete the application process. Last date for applying for MICAT -1 will be 25th November 2016 and 31st of January, 2017 is the last date for applying to MICAT -2. 

MICAT 2017 Admit Cards

Admit cards for MICAT – 1 will be available from 2nd December, 2016 and admit cards for MICAT -2 will be available from 6th February, 2017. Candidates will receive via registered e-mail or can use Download facility to download from MICA website. Candidates have to take the print of the admit card and need to present at the test centre along with acceptable photo identity card.

MICAT 2017 Score Declaration and Final Results

MICAT – 1 scores will be declared on 11th December 2016 and MICAT – 2 scores will be declared on 12th February 2017. MICA will short list the candidates based on performance in the MICAT and will be called for GE & PI. Short list for GE&PI will be published on 23rd February 2017 and GE&PI will be conducted in various dates from 9th March to 20th March at selected cities. Final results and merit list for MICAT 2017 will be published on 31st March 2017.
