National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate - NEET PG 2017

National Board of Education conducts the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate medical courses (NEET PG) for admission into universities/institution across India. Previously AIPGMEE used to be conducted to fill 50% all India quota seats, from this year the same will be filled using NEET PG merit. Apart from 50% all India quota seats, NEET PG is a single eligibility cum ranking exam for admission to MD/MS/PG diploma courses offered at universities/institutions across India, and no other exam at state /institute level is valid for admissions to these courses. Exam will be conducted at all India level and NEET PG 2017 is scheduled to be conducted from 5th December to 13th December 2016.

Eligibility Criteria for NEET PG

  • Candidates shall pass MBBS degree from any recognized medical university/institution recognized by Medical Council of India.
  • Candidates shall possess permanent or provisional registration with Medical Council of India (MCI) or any state medical council.
  • Candidates who are likely to complete their one year rotary internship on or before 31st March 2017 are eligible.
  • Candidates who are pursuing internship from Dr. N.T.R. University of Health Science’s affiliated colleges, completing one year internship before 15th April 2017 are eligible.

NEET PG Exam Pattern

NEET PG is conducted in CBT (Computer Base Test) mode where Candidates have to answer on a computer screen and duration of exam is 3 hours 30 minutes. Test paper consists of 300 MCQ type questions in English language and each question will have 4 options with single correct answer. Each correct answer will fetch 1 mark and no negative marking system is adopted.

NEET PG Syllabus

National board did not specify any particular syllabus for NEET PG, and the questions are derived from topics covered at graduation level and knowledge areas as prescribed by MCI. NEET PG 2017

National Board of Exams has announced the NEET PG 2017 exam dates and exam is scheduled to be conducted from 5th December to 13th December 2017 is morning and afternoon sessions. NEET PG 2017 registration has begun from 26th September 2016 and last t date for applying online is 31st October 2016. Aspirants have to pay a sum of Rs 3750/- (Rs 2750/- for SC/ST/PwD) against examination fee through debit/credit/ net banking only.

NEET PG 2017 Application Process

Candidates willing to appear NEET PG 2017 have to register through online. Application process involves few steps like create a profile, complete the application, schedule the exam and online payment of examination fee.  After completing the all steps candidates will be navigated to confirmation page where candidates can check for the information correctness. Edit option is provided to correct the profile & application and candidates can apply the necessary changes before final submission.

Once the application is successfully submitted candidates will receive summery of application to email within 24 hours. All the candidates are advised to save and print the “application summary” email for future purposes.

NEET PG 2017 Admit Cards

Candidates will receive the admit cards via email within 24 hours from the time of application submission and candidates can also download and print the admit card by logging into NEET PG profile using username and password. Board advises the candidates to check the admit card for correctness of exam date, exam schedule, candidate name and other details.

Candidates have to affix a photograph at space provided in the admit card and have to carry the same along with photocopy of permanent or provisional registration and original photo id to the test center. No candidate will be allowed to take the test without fulfilling the above.

NEET PG 2017 Results and Admissions

NEET PG 2017 results will be announced on 15th January 2017 and scores are valid only for 2017 admission session.  Candidates indeed have to score 50 percentile (45 for PwD and 40% for SC/ST) in NEET PG 2017 to get eligible for admissions into MD/MS/PG diploma courses in the current academic year.

Board will declare the merit list separately for All India NEET PG 2017 Rank, All India 50% Quota Rank, All India 50% quota category rank and state quota/ private medical colleges/deemed university/AFMS rank.

Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) will handle the admissions to 50% all India quota seats and NBE will provide the result and candidate data to the admissions authorities of state/institute/university for generating merit lists based on their own admission policies.
