Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design - UCEED 2017

Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design is a common entrance test conducted at national level to admit students in B.Des. Programs offered at IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati and IIITDM Jabalpur. Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) is innovative under graduate program with multi disciplinary education covering Fine arts and Market trends, to convert ideas into creative products.

Exam Update : Admit card download for UCEED 2017 has been enabled from 29th December 2016. Now candidates can login to the candidate portal to generate and download Admit card.

Eligibility

Candidates who passed 10+2 from any discipline from any recognized board or equivalent are eligible for appearing UCEED. Candidates who are appearing final exam of 10+2 in 2017 are also eligible to appear UCEED 2017 and are subjected to admission criteria. Candidates who have born on or after 1st October 1997 (5years relaxation for SC/ST/PWD) are only eligible for UCEED 2017. Candidates who passed qualifying exam before 2016 are not eligible to apply for UCEED 2017.

Exam Pattern

UCEED is a Computer based test conducted for duration of 3 hours where candidates have to answer the questions on computer screen. Exam will be conducted in a single session in a day. UCEED question paper will be in English language and will contain total of 80 questions. There are 3 sections in the UCEED question paper, where section –A contains NAT (Numerical Answer Type) questions, Section –B contains MSQ (Multiple Select Questions) and Section – C contains MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions). Question paper will be covering 6 topics and conducted for 300 marks. Questions in these sections, carries different marks scoring methods as mentioned bellow.

Section – A

Section – A of UCEED question paper contains Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions without choices, where answer for that particular question is a real number and candidates have to enter using virtual keyboard. Each correct answer will fetch 4 marks and no negative marking is adopted.

Section – B

Section – B of UCEED question paper contains Multiple Select Questions (MSQ) with four options, where answer for each question may have one are more correct answers and each correct answer will fetch 4 marks and there will be no negative or partial marks given in this section.

Section – C

Section – C of UCEED question paper contains MCQ type questions where each question will have 4 options with single correct answer. Four marks will be awarded for correct answer and 1 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer.

Syllabus

UCEED entrance test questions are derived from 6 topics covering Visualization & spatial ability, Observation & design sensitivity, Environmental & social awareness, Analytical & logical reasoning, Language & creativity and Design thinking & problem solving.

UCEED 2017

IIT Bombay has announced the UCEED 2017 exam schedule and admission schedule,  applications will be accepted from 17th October 2016 and last date for applying online is 11th November 2016. UCEED 2017 exam is scheduled to be held on 22nd January 2017.

Applying Online

Candidates who are aspiring career in Design and willing to study B.Des. from prestigious institutes like IITs and IIITDM Jabalpur have to register online to submit applications. Candidates have to do a onetime registration providing a valid email id and mobile number. Candidates will receive a validation mail upon registration and once validation is completed candidates will receive a password for the future logins. Candidates have to enter personal details, and have to upload the soft copy of recent color photograph, scanned signature and qualifying exam certificate in JPEG format during online application filling. Candidates who are appearing qualifying exam in 2017 have to upload a certificate obtained from the school/principle in the prescribed format.  Candidates should make 3 test center choices and UCEED 2017 is administered in 19 test cities across India.

Candidates have to pay a sum of Rs.2000/- (Rs.1000/- for SC/ST/PwD/Female) against application fee by online only. Candidates have to fulfill all the 3 eligibility criteria to apply for UCEEED 2017 and admissions.

Note: Candidates can apply till 18th November 2016 with a late fee.  

Admit Cards for UCEED 2017

Candidates who successfully applied for UCEED 2017 can download the admit cards from 26th December 2016 and rectification of discrepancies in the admit cards are allowed till 9th January 2017. Candidates have to report one hour before the scheduled time at the test center.

Results for UCEED 2017

UCEED 2017 draft answer key will be published on 28th January 2017 and will accept comments on answer key till 31st January 2017. Results of UCEED 2017 will be declared on 20th February and candidates can download the score cards from 27th February 2017. Candidates shall score a minimum 10% (5% in case of SC/ST/OBC) in each section to qualify in the UCEED 2017, and only those names will be included in the rank lists.

Admissions

Candidates whose names are placed in the ranks list are eligible for admission into B.Des. program offered by IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati and IIITD Jabalpur. A total of 105 seats are available in all 3 institutions and a joint seat allotment will be done based on merit obtained in the UCEED and institute selected. A total of 3 rounds of seat allotment will be done and allotment process will close once the vacant seats are exhausted.  An online application will be accepted from eligible candidates for admissions and application window will be available from 10th June to 25th June 2017.
