NEET UG 2017 exam date announced, check highlights

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the NEET UG 2017 exam date and exam is scheduled to be held on 7th May 2017 from 10:00AM to 1:00PM. National eligibility cum Entrance Test 2017 is a single entrance test to determine the merit of the candidates who are willing to admit into first year MBBS and BDS courses at institutions across India.

NEET UG 2017 is conducted at national level across 84 examination cities. From this year all the seats offered by colleges/universities across India will be filled through NEET UG 2017. No other entrance exam is valid to admit the candidates into under graduate medical & dental courses. The candidates willing to join Institutions like AIIMS and JIPMER, appearing NEET UG 2017 is not mandatory as admissions to these institutions will be carried out through separate entrance tests conducted by respective institutions.

Applications for the entrance test will be accepted in online mode only on CBSE NEET website. The online applications are available from 31st January 2017 and candidates shall submit the applications before the last date which is 1st March 2017. The applicants have to pay a sum of Rs.1400/- (Rs.750/- for SC/ST/PwD) as application fee which has to be paid online through available payment gateways.

While applying for entrance exam candidates can select 3 examination city choices. The applicants who wish to appear the examination in any of the vernacular language has to select the appropriate test city where the test paper will be available in that particular language.

Highlights of NEET UG 2017

  • This year other than English and Hindi, NEET UG 2017 will be conducted in 8 vernacular languages (Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, Marathi, Gujrathi, Bengali, Odia and Assami).
  • Number of attempts to appear NEET is restricted to 3.
  • AADHAAR details have to be mandatorily entered by Indian nationals while filling the application form.
  • The candidates from J&K, Assam and Meghalaya have to enter Passport no / Ration card no / Bank account no / Any other valid government id instead of AADHAAR number.
