NEET – II Application Process Started, Things to Know
CBSE has initiated the application process for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test – II (UG) called NEET – II from 26th May 2016 and the exam is scheduled to hold on 24th July 2016. NEET – 1 which was previously called AIPMT 2016 was already held on 1st May. NEET – II is now being conducted in accordance to the NEET ordinance signed by Hon’ble President of India on 24th May 2016.
NEET – II is the exam to be conducted by CBSE for admission to the following:
- 15% All India Quota Seats of undergraduate Medical and Dental courses.
- State Government Quota Seats where the State Government opts to fill the seats of M.B.B.S. and B.D.S courses with NEET.
- Management/NRI quota seats for undergraduate courses offered in all private medical/dental colleges and private/deemed universities across India.
Who can to take NEET – II
As per the directives of Hon’ble Supreme Court of India dated 9th May 2016 the following can take NEET-II:
- All the left out candidates who could not register for NEET-I/AIPMT 2016
- Candidates who registered for NEET-I/AIPMT 2016, but could not appear for the Test.
- Candidates who appeared to NEET-I/AIPMT 2016 can also apply for NEET-II, provided the candidate submits to give up the candidature/scores of NEET-I/AIPMT 2016.
Important Things to Know:
- The candidates from Andra Pradesh, Telangana and Jammu & Kashmir are not eligible for 15% All India Quota seats. However the candidates from these states are eligible to apply for NEET-II for admission to Private medical/dental colleges or private/deemed universities in their state.
- There are no changes to eligibility criteria, syllabus and exam pattern that are as in NEET-I/AIPMT 2016.
- As per the NEET ordinance states have liberty to conduct a separate entrance exam for M.B.B.S. and B.D.S. courses to fill the Govt. Quota seats in government and private institutions in their respective state for the academic year 2016-17 only.
- Private colleges and Private/Deemed Universities are barred from conducting a separate exam to fill the management/NRI quota seats from 2016-17 academic session itself.
