KEAM 2017 exam dates out, major changes sought in exam
CEE Kerala has announced that KEAM 2017 will be conducted on the dates 24th and 25th of April, 2017 for 2 papers. Paper 1 which comprises physics and chemistry subjects will be conducted on 24th April from 10:00AM to 12:30 PM and paper 2 Mathematics will be conducted from 10:00AM to 12:30PM on 25th April 2017. Unlike previous years from 2017 year onwards KEAM will be engineering entrance test and merit will be used for admissions to B.Tech. and B.Arch. courses only.
As per Supreme Court order admissions to Medical and Dental courses across India has to be done through NEET-UG 2017 conducted by CBSE. CEE Kerala has adopted the NEET-UG 2017 for other allied medical courses also for all institutions across Kerala state. From 2017 academic year onwards candidates from Kerala have to attend the NEET UG 2017 to get eligible for admissions into Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, Siddha, Unani, Agriculture, Veterinary, Fisheries and Forestry courses. Admissions to the Medical and allied courses will be through Centralised Allotment Process (CAP) conducted by CEE Kerala only. So from 2017 onwards no other exam conducted at state level or institution level will be valid for admissions to Medical, Dental and allied medical courses in Kerala.
Other than this no major changes in exam pattern and syllabus were observed. KEAM 2017 exam will be conducted in pen and paper model and each paper will be conducted for 150 minutes. Test paper will have 120 questions and each question will have 5 options with single correct answer. Every correct answer will fetch 4 marks and 1 mark will be deducted for wrong choice selected.
KEAM 2017 rank lists will be prepared based on entrance exam score and marks obtained in the final year of qualifying exam. There will be equal weightage (50:50) for KEAM scores and marks obtained in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry in final year of qualifying exam. Architecture aspirants have to apply for KEAM2017 in addition to NATA 2017 conducted by COA as admissions to the B.Arch. will be done using on KEAM 2017 architecture rank list prepared separately based on equal weightage (50:50) given for NATA score and marks obtained in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry in final year of qualifying exam.
KEAM 2017 will be conducted at 14 districts across Kerala state and selected test cities in India and Dubai. Soon Commissioner of Entrance Exams Kerala will release detailed notification and application process will be stated in first week of January 2017.
