IISER Kolkata Ph.D. Admissions: Application are Invited for Spring Semester 2017

IISER (Indian Institute of Scientific Education and Research), Kolkata is one of the premier institutes offering cutting edge research programs, inviting applications for spring semester 2017. IISER usually conducts selection process twice in a year and offer Ph.D. in Biological, Chemical, Earth Sciences, Mathematical and Physical Sciences disciplines. Research aspirants who do not have own fellowship (such as, UGC/CSIR-NET, INSPIRE etc) should apply for the selection process. Candidates who posses own fellowship can directly apply to the institution and are exempted from selection process.

Selection for the Ph.D. programs will be based on applicant’s academic performance, aptitude towards research and performance in the test/interview. Candidates who passed a master degree from relevant discipline with a minimum 55% aggregate are eligible to apply for Ph.D. programs and candidates can check for department wise detailed eligibility criteria at IISER admissions portal.

Applicants can apply thorough online application form, IISER is accepting applications from 26^th September 2016 and application portal will be closed on 18^th October 2016 and application form can be edited till the last date of submission. Candidates have to save the duly filled application form and have to submit the printout of the form at the time of interview. IISER will publish the shortlist of the candidates for interview on 26th October 2016, and institute may conduct interviews from 19^th November to 25^th November 2016. A recommendation letter in a prescribed format is available for download from IISER portal, and candidates have to bring the signed recommendation letters (from 2 teachers) in a sealed form to the interview.

Publication of interview results will be on 2^nd December, 2016 and candidates will be able to check their result online. Selected candidates will receive the offer letters with date of joining and candidates have to pre-register from 2^nd December to 16^th December 2016.

Important documents required for Interview

• Photo ID Proof.
• Hard copy of application with signature.
• Attested copies of all the relevant academic records, such as mark sheets and certificates of all examinations starting from the secondary level.
• Fellowship award letter / Admit Card + Result.
• Two recommendation letters (in prescribed format) in sealed envelopes.
