TNAU P.G and Ph.D Entrance Exam 2016
Tamilnadu Agricultural University (TNAU) invited applications for P.G. and Ph.D. programs for academic year 2016-17. TNAU operates from 5 campuses spread across Tamilnadu state and offers masters in 33 disciplines and doctoral programs in 27 disciplines. Aspiring candidates have to apply online only. Choice based tri semester system is adopted by the university where research is integral part of education.
An entrance exam will be conducted to ascertain the candidates ability and admissions will be made on merit obtained in the exam along with preferences opted by the candidates. Candidates seeking admission to a discipline will have to take the entrance test in the relevant subject.
Application Procedure
Candidates have to apply online through TNAU website https://tnauonline.in/, a onetime registration is required to complete application process. Candidates willing to apply for masters program can appear for only 2 subjects and 1 subject for Ph.D. programs. Candidates shall fill the application online and have to send the application along with the true copies of necessary documents to Dean, School of Post Graduate Studies, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore 641 003. An application fee of Rs 1000/- (500 for SC/ST) per subject to be paid online, and last date for submission of Application with necessary documents for master programs is 15th July 2016 and 22nd July for Doctoral programs.
Eligibility Criteria for TNAU P.G. and Ph.D. Entrance Test 2016
Candidates who studied a relevant four year agricultural degree program for any recognized agricultural university or affiliated institution are eligible to appear in specific paper as mentioned in the information brochure. General eligibility criteria are as mentioned below.
- Candidates should be domicile of India
- Candidate shall pass a four year degree program from any recognized Agricultural university or affiliated institute with minimum OGPA of ¾ or 7/10 scale are eligible for Masters program.
- Candidate shall pass a four year degree program from any recognized Agricultural university or affiliated institute with a minimum OGPA of 7 on a scale of 10 are only eligible for integrated Ph.D.
- Candidate shall pass a four year degree program and two year master program from recognized Agricultural University or affiliated institute are eligible for regular Ph.D. programs.
- Candidate shall pass a four year degree program and two year master program from recognized Agricultural University or affiliated institute and should posses two years of professional experience (in Government or Private organization / Institutions, where R&D facilities are available that are recognized by TNAU) are eligible for part time Ph.D. programs.
Syllabus and Exam pattern
Tamilnadu agricultural university entrance exam 2016 for Post graduate and Doctoral programs is of objective type conducted for 75 minutes. Exam paper consists of 100 MCQ type questions where 75 questions are from the specific subject which candidate desired to take and 15 questions are from general agriculture and 10 questions are from general aptitude. Exam syllabus will be at the level of qualifying exam.
Selection and admission procedure
All the admissions are based on merit obtained by the candidate in the entrance exam and preferences given by the candidate. Selection for admission along with programs allotted will be informed to the candidates through email and selected candidates are required to produce the all the original documents and need to secure the admission. A separate list of allotments will also be published on the TNAU website.
Test Center and exam date
TNAU conducts the entrance test for P.G. and Ph.D. programs at TNAU Coimbatore campus only. Tentative exam date for Masters Programs is 27th July and for Ph.D. programs is 9th August 2016. Exact date will be announced later on university website.
