NEET 2017 Exam Date, Eligibility, Exam Pattern, Application Process
NEET 2017 - National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for UG (NEET UG) is a single national level exam for admissions into MBBS and BDS programmes offered at government/private/deemed universities (Except AIMS and JIPMER) across India.
NEET UG 2017 or NEET 2017 is conducted by CBSE (central board of secondary education) once in a year and exam is conducted at national level. Except for AIIMS and JIPMER, NEET UG is the only entrance exam and no other exam is valid for admission into first year MBBS and BDS programmes. NEET 2017 scores are valid for current academic year.
All India quota seats (15%) are filled through NEET 2017 merit and admissions will be carried out by Medical counseling committee. Admission to the institutions at state level /institute level will be carried out by the concerned state authorities.
Admission to the all seats in MBBS and BDS shall be filled through NEET 2017 conducted by CBSE and seats are classified in the following categories.
- All India quota seats
- State government quota seats
- Central pool quota seats
- State/Private/Management/NRI Quota Seats in all Private Medical / Dental Colleges or any Private/ Deemed University
NEET UG 2017 Schedule
CBSE has released the NEET UG 2017 notification and exam is scheduled to be held on 7th May 2017 in a single session. Applications for NEET UG are accepted from 31st January 2017 and last date for application submission is 1st March 2017.

NEET UG 2017 Eligibility
The candidates willing to appear for NEET 2017 shall meet the following eligibility
- The candidate shall pass 10+2 with subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-technology and English individually, and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/ Bio-technology at the qualifying examination.
- The candidates who belong to SC/ST shall pass the qualifying exam with above said subjects and shall obtain 40% marks.
- The candidates who belong to PwD category shall obtain a minimum of 45% in the qualifying exam with above said subjects.
- Exam is open for all nationals.
- The candidates who are appearing qualifying exam in 2017 are also eligible to apply.
- Upper age limit for appearing the exam is 25 for general candidates with 5 years relaxation for SC/ST/OBC.
- The candidates can appear the exam for a maximum of 3 attempts, irrespective of category.
- The candidates must have attained 17 years by 31st of December on admission year.
NEET UG Exam Pattern
Exam pattern of NEET UG 2017 is objective type, conducted in pen paper model. Exam paper consists of 180 objective questions and shall be answered in 3 hours duration. All the questions will have 4 options with single correct answer. Every correct answer will fetch 4 marks and one mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.
The test paper consist questions from physics, chemistry and biology subjects taught at 10+2 level and 60 questions are derived from each subject. The candidates have to answer on machine gradable OMR sheet with blue/black ballpoint pen only. The NEET 2017 exam paper will be available 10 languages including English, Hindi, Telugu, Marathi, Oriya, Gujrathi, Tamil, Bengali, Assami, and Kannada languages.
NEET UG 2017 Syllabus

NEET UG 2017 Application Form and Filling Process
CBSE is accepting applications from eligible candidates from 31st January 2017. The aspirants have to apply through online on cbseneet.nic.in website. Applications are accepted in online mode only and no physical application forms are available. All the candidates shall complete and submit the application before the last date which is 1st of March, 2017.
The applicants have to visit CBSE NEET UG 2017 online application portal and need to click on “proceed to apply online for NEET (UG), 2017” to start the application process. The candidates have to fill the online application form with necessary details mentioned below.
- Name
- Mothers name
- Fathers name
- Category (here candidate has to mention his reservation category)
- DoB
- Gender
- Nationality (foreign candidates need to mention parent country for NRI/OCI/PIO citizen ship has to be mentioned)
- Identification type( Indians have to provide AADHAAR and other has to mention passport number)
- Contact details (mobile number and email id)
- Number of attempts in AIPMT/NEET ( as number of attempts is restricted to 3)
- Language of question paper
- Choice of examination center ( maximum 3)
- Password
- OTP
After providing all the details candidates can check the entered details using preview button. Upon satisfactory candidates can proceed for application submission and provisional registration number will be generated which shall be used as username for future logins. A password is also set during filling the application form and candidates shall remember the password. While filling the NEET application details candidates from India have to provide his/her AADHAAR details as it has made mandatory for applying NEET UG 2017. In this step candidates can select the language of question paper and 3 examination center choices. Test paper is available in 10 languages and candidates can select the language of paper in which he/she wishes to appear.
The candidates applying from the states of AP, Telangana and J&K who are appearing NEET UG 2017 and seeking admission in 15% all India quota have to fill a declaration form, stating they are not eligible for admission into MBBS and BDS In the respective state quota seats and not a domicile of AP, Telangana and J & k.
Note: NRI/ PIO/OCI and foreigners can provide their passport number instead of AADHAAR number.
After filling the necessary details candidates have to upload the scanned copy of photograph and signature as per prescribed format and size. The prescribed format and size for photograph and signature is mentioned below.

Application fee
Only after uploading the images candidates can further proceed to complete the application form. The candidates after uploading the images can further proceed to pay the application fee to complete the NEET UG 2017 application process. The application fee can be paid only though online by credit card / debit card / net banking or any other E-valet facilities. After successful payment of application fee a confirmation page will be generated which shall be saved and for future purposes.
Application fee is Rs. 1400/- for general candidates and Rs. 750/- for SC/ST/PH
Test Centers
CBSE is conducting NEET UG 2017 nationwide at 84 test cities. The designated test cities may have more than one examination center. The applicants are allowed to choose 3 examination cities within available list. Here is the list of cities and centers with city code listed below.

Admit cards for NEET UG 2017
CBSE will issue the admit cards for NEET UG 2017 from 15th April 2017 and applicants can download the admit cards from NEET website till the exam date. Once applicants download the admit card CBSE will also send an email containing admit card (in PDF form) to the registered email id.
Admit card bears following information and candidates are advised to carefully inspect the information for correctness.
- Name.
- Roll number.
- Father’s name.
- Category & sub-category.
- Photograph.
- Signature.
- DoB.
- Language of question paper.
- Name & address of examination center.
The candidates shall carry the print out of the admit card along with passport size photograph and post card size photograph (affixed on the proforma) to the test venue.
On the exam day
Test will commence at 10:00AM and will finish by 1:00PM on 7th May 2017. The applicant’s are advised to reach the examination hall well advance of 2 hours to 2 and half hours before examination is commenced. Invigilator will check the admit card from 9:30AM to 9:45AM and will issue the test booklet from 9:45AM. The test takers have to answer on the OMR sheet which is provided along the NEET test booklet. All the answers shall be written with blue/black ball point pen only. Any rough work shall be done on the test booklet only.
NEET UG 2017 Answer key
Once examination is successfully conducted, CBSE will release the provisional answer key and accept the challenge from the candidates. The candidates can challenge against the NEET 2017 answer key by paying Rs.1000/- for each question.
NEET UG 2017 Results
Results for the exam will be declared on 8th June 2017 on the CBSE website. CBSE will only declare the results in the form of NEET UG scores. No merit lists will be declared along with the scores. Merit lists (including category wise) for 15% all India quota seats will be prepared once the counseling is scheduled by DGHS.
