KEAM 2017 Exam Dates, Application Form, Eligibility
KEAM 2017 is Kerala Engineering, Architecture and Medical entrance exam conducted by CEE Kerala for admissions to undergraduate courses in various government / government sponsored / private colleges in the state of Kerala. KEAM 2017 is a pen and paper based exam and is scheduled to be organized on 24th and 25th of April 2017 for candidates seeking engineering admission.
Prior to 2017 KEAM exam was conducted for admissions to various medical and allied courses including MBBS, BDS, Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, Siddha, Unani, Agriculture, Veterinary, Fisheries and Forestry also. From 2017 onwards admissions to these courses will be done based on merit obtained in NEET-UG organized by CBSE. The candidates seeking admissions to medical and allied courses have to apply for KEAM 2017 and shall take NEET (UG) 2017 in order to get eligibility for admission.
The candidates seeking Architecture admissions shall apply for KEAM 2017 and take NATA 2017 test. The admissions to architecture courses will be made based on the merit obtained in NATA 2017.

Eligibility Criteria
General eligibility requirements for admission (Citizenship and Domicile):
Only Indian nationals are eligible for admission in to professional colleges in Kerala through KEAM 2017, persons of Indian origin are also treated as Indian citizens but no reservation is applicable to them.
The candidates are categorized into 3 categories that are Keralite, Non-Keralite Category-1 and Non-Keralite Category-2.
A candidate of Kerala origin will be categorized as Keralite.
Non-Keralite Category-1
The candidates who are not from Kerala region but satisfy anyone of the following conditions are categorized as Non-Keralite Category-1.
- A candidate who has studied the qualifying course in Kerala and son/daughter of non-Keralite parents who are serving government of India / defence personal posted in Kerala.
- A candidate who is not from Kerala region but has been resident of Kerala within 12 years of his/her study.
- A candidate not from Kerala region but undergone education from class 8th to class 12th in Kerala.
- A candidate who had undergone qualifying studies in Kerala whose parents are serving / served government of Kerala for 2 years.
Non-Keralite Category-1 candidates are considered for state merit but are not eligible for special category seats.
Non-Keralite Category-2
- All other candidates who don’t fall under Keralite and Non-Keralite Category-1 come under Non-Keralite Category-2.
- Non-Keralite Category-2 candidates are only eligible for admissions to government quota seats and management quota seats in government controlled self financing colleges and private self financing colleges.
- Non-Keralite Category-2 candidates are eligible for admissions to engineering/architecture courses only and not eligible for admissions to medical and allied courses.
Academic Eligibility Requirements for KEAM 2017
Educational qualifications required for engineering courses:
- The candidates who have passed qualifying exam i.e, 10+2 from board of Kerala or equivalent exam from any recognized board with 50% in mathematics and aggregate of 50% from mathematics, physics, and chemistry are eligible for government quota seats.
- The candidates who have passed qualifying exam i.e, 10+2 from board of Kerala or equivalent exam from any recognized board with 50% in mathematics and aggregate of 45% from mathematics, physics, and chemistry are only eligible for management quota seats in private self financing engineering colleges/government controlled self financing engineering colleges.
- The candidates who have not studied chemistry in qualifying exam either of computer science, biotechnology or biology scores are considered in computing aggregate.
- The candidates who have passed qualifying exam i.e, 10+2 from board of Kerala or equivalent exam from any recognized board with 50% in mathematics / biology and aggregate of 50% from mathematics / biology, physics, and chemistry are eligible into seats reserved for dairy form instructors of dairy development department for B. Tech. Dairy science and Technology.
** For all the courses 5% marks relaxation will be given for SEBC/PD category students and10% marks relaxation will be given for SC/ST category students.
Educational qualifications required for architecture courses:
- The candidates who have passed 10+2 from board of Kerala or any recognized board with mathematics as compulsory subject with 50% Aggregate.
- The candidates who have passed 10+3 diploma from any stream from any recognized board with 50% aggregate.
- The candidates who have passed an international baccalaureate diploma after 10th class with mathematics as compulsory subject with 50% aggregate.
- A score of 80 out of 200 marks in NATA 2017 exam is mandatory for all candidates (including special category) seeking admission into architecture courses.
** For all the courses 5% marks relaxation will be given for SEBC/PD students and 10% marks relaxation will be given for SC/ST category students.
Academic eligibility for medical and allied courses:
The candidates seeking admission to medical and allied courses may not be required to attend KEAM 2017 exam, but shall comply with the eligibilities mentioned below along with NEET UG scores.
- The candidates seeking admission into MBBS, BDS and BSMS should have passed 10+2 from any recognized board with 50% marks in biology / biotechnology and aggregate 50% marks in physics, chemistry with biology / biotechnology.
- The candidates seeking admission into BAMS and BHMS should have passed 10+2 from any Recognized board with 50% marks in biology and aggregate 50% marks in physics, chemistry with biology. Biotechnology cannot be considered as academic eligibility.
- The candidates seeking admission into BUMS should have passed 10+2 from any Recognized board with 50% marks in biology and aggregate 50% marks in physics, chemistry with biology. Biotechnology cannot be considered as academic eligibility.
- The candidates seeking admission into B.Sc.(Hons.)Agri., B.Sc.(Hons) Forestry, BFSc courses should have passed 10+2 from any Recognized board with 50% marks in biology and aggregate 50% marks in physics, chemistry with biology. Biotechnology cannot be considered as academic eligibility.
- The candidates seeking admission into BVSc. & AH Course should have passed 10+2 from any Recognized board with 50% marks in biology and aggregate 50% marks in physics, chemistry with biology. Biotechnology cannot be considered as academic eligibility.
- The candidates who have passed 3 yr B.Sc. degree from any recognized university with physics, chemistry, zoology, botany or biotechnology as major subjects and any one or two of the above as subsidiary subjects with 50% each in main and subsidiary taken together are eligible MBBS, BDS, BHMS, BAMS, and BSMS course.

KEAM 2017 Application Form
The candidates seeking admission through KEAM 2017 have to register, fill and submit application online. The online application form is made available from 1st February, 2017 and last date for submitting application form online is 27th February, 2017. The candidates will have to upload scanned copies of recent photograph, signature and left hand thumb impression during the online application process.
After submitting the application form successfully online, a printout of the same has to be taken, duly signed and has to be sent to the CEE Kerala along with all supporting documents like nativity certificate, category certificate etc. Before sending the printout of the application form it has to be affixed with the photo (same as uploaded one) at prescribed space and duly attested by the head of the institution (qualifying exam) or a gazetted officer. The last date for receiving the printout of KEAM 2017 application form by CEE Kerala is 28th February, 2017.
Application fee
The application fee for KEAM 2017 is Rs.800/- for general candidates and Rs.400/- in case of SC candidates. ST candidates are exempted from application fee. The candidates who desire to appear exam in Dubai centre have to pay an additional fee of Rs.12000/- along with application fee.
How to pay Keam 2017 application fee?
The application fee can be paid by the KEAM 2017 candidates in two methods i.e, online payment or payment through E-Challan.
Online application fee payment can be made using credit card / debit card / net banking modes. Upon successful payment the candidate will be allowed to take the printout of the application form.
The candidates willing to pay by cash through E-Challan have to take printout of the same generated after submitting online application form and deposite the fee in cash any of the selected State Bank of Travancore branches. Once the bank updates the payment the 'Payment Tab' turns green in candidate portal and printout of the application form is allowed.
Exam Centers:
KEAM 2017 is conducted across all districts of Kerala, Mumbai, New Delhi and Dubai. Change of center is not allowed once the online application submission is over.
Exam papers:
For Engineering courses, the candidates have to appear for Paper -1 (Physics & Chemistry) and Paper-2 (Mathematics).
For Architectural course, the candidates have to appear for NATA 2017 and have to score 80 out of 200 marks to qualify for admission and no need to take any exam in KEAM 2017.
For Medical and allied courses, the candidates have to appear for NEET UG and need not take KEAM 2017 exam.
Exam Pattern:
KEAM 2017 engineering papers are pen and paper based with multiple choice question type and each question will have 5 answers with single correct answer. Each correct answer will award 4 marks and incorrect answer will deduct 1 mark. Each paper comprises of 120 questions and have to be answered in 150mins.The syllabus of exam is as prescribed by the higher secondary board of Kerala.

Instructions for candidates appearing KEAM 2017
- The candidates should report at exam hall before 30mins of commencement of exam.
- The candidates should produce admit card.
- Blue and black pen are recommended to fill OMR Sheet.
- The candidates will not be allowed to appear exam 30 mins after the commencement of exam.
- The candidates should remain at exam hall till the exam concludes.
- Each question paper will have 4 versions.
- The candidate should check the version of question paper with version printed on admit card.
- The candidates are allowed to carry back question paper booklet and copy of OMR Sheet.
