Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET 2017)
Karnataka Examination authority (KEA) conducts a Common entrance test (CET 2017) for admission under government quota seats in Government / University / Private Aided / Private Un-Aided Professional Educational Institutions in the State of Karnataka for the academic year 2017-18 for professional under graduates courses in various disciplines including Engineering, Technology, Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, Unani, Naturopathy & Yoga, Architecture, Farm Science courses i.e, B.Sc. (Agriculture), B.Sc. (Sericulture), B.Sc (Horticulture), B.Sc (Forestry), B.Sc. Agri Bio Tech, BHSc.(Home Science), B.Tech (Agri.Engg), B.Tech (Food Technology), B.Tech (Dairy Tech), B.FSc (Fisheries), B.Tech (Food Science&Tech)., B.Sc. (Agri. Marketing & Co-Op), B.Pharma and Pharma-D. Exam dates for KCET 2017 were announced by KEA and exam will be conducted on 2nd and 3rd May, 2017.
For academic year 2017 all medical and dental admissions will be done through NEET-UG 2017 exam conducted by CBSE.

Exam pattern:
Karnataka CET (KCET 2017) is a OMR paper based exam which will consist four different papers, that is Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, each carry 60 marks with a duration of 80mins. All four papers will be conducted in four different sessions, each question paper is of multiple choice question type of four different options with single correct answer. Each question will carry one mark and no negative marking for a wrong answer.

Syllabus:
CET 2017 Syllabus comprises first and second year syllabus prescribed by department of pre university education of Karnataka.
Eligibility:
- Candidate should be Indian national for appearing in CET 2017.
- Only candidates who passed qualifying exam from the boards listed in VTU notification are eligible to appear in CET 2017.
- Candidates who are appearing qualifying exam in 2017 and whose results are awaited are also eligible for admission if he/she attained required percentage of marks.

Kannada Language test:
Kannada Language test is to determine the basic ability to read, write and speak Kannada language of candidates claiming eligibility for government seats under Horanadu & Gadinadu Kannadiga clauses and whose mother tongue is Kannada, Tulu or Kodava. The language test will be conducted for 50 marks and a minimum pass mark is 12. Test will be conducted in the level of 4th standard. However such candidates who claim eligibility under Horanadu & Gadinadu Kannadiga clauses, whose full education from 1st to 10th in Kannada Medium is exempted from Kannada Language Test.

Practical Test for Agriculturist quota:
Students have to attend a practical test to claim the agriculturist quota. In This test student has to identify agricultural related specimens and have to score atleast 50% marks to claim seats in agricultural and farm universities. This quota is not applicable for medical and engineering courses.

Test Centers:
KEA is conducting CET 2017 in 54 test centers in all districts across Karnataka and the candidate has to choose a test center within the same district where he/she has studied qualifying examination. However the candidates claiming eligibility under Horanadu/Gadinadu Kannadiga clauses have to appear in a test center located in Bangalore only.
