IIT Bombay CEED 2017 - Common Entrance Exam for Design
Common Entrance Exam for Design (CEED) is conducted by IIT Bombay and is a qualifying exam for admissions to M.Des. & Ph.D. programs offered at various IITs and IISc. CEED is only qualifying exam and institutes may further conduct interview/test to ascertain the candidature of aspirants. IIT Bombay will only administer the CEED exam and admissions will be handled by various institutes separately. IIT Bombay has announced the CEED 2017 schedule and exam will be conducted on 22nd January 2017 at select test cities. CEED scores will be valid for a period of one year from the date of declaration.
Exam Update : Admit card download for CEED 2017 has been enabled from 29th December 2016. Now candidates can login to the candidate portal to generate and download Admit card.
Eligibility
- Candidates shall have passed a degree/diploma program of at least 4 year after 10+2.
- Candidates appearing final year of qualifying exam in the admission are also eligible to apply.
- Candidates shall pass GD arts diploma (10+5) by the time of applying to CEED.
Exam Pattern
CEED 2017 test paper will have 2 parts, and exam will be conducted for duration of 3 hours. Part A is a screening test for Part B and candidates have to score a minimum prescribed marks of 10% (9% for OBC and 5% for SC/ST/PwD) to be shortlisted for valuation of Part B. Only Part B scores will be used for preparing the CEED merit list. The number of shortlisted candidates for Part B paper of CEED 2017 will be approximately equal to the the number seats available multiplied by 10. If the 'N' is the number of seats available the top N x 10 candidates will be shortlisted for PART B.
Part A will be computer based test (CBT) conducted for duration of one hour. Part A contains design aptitude questions to test the candidate’s visual and spatial ability, environmental and social awareness, analytical and logical reasoning, language and observation & design sensitivity. Objective questions of part A will have Numerical answer type (NAT) questions, multiple select questions (MSQ) and multiple choice questions (MCQ).
PART B will be conducted for duration of 2 hours and the questions in this part will be aimed to test Design, Drawing and Writing skills of the candidate. Questions will be displayed on the computer screen and candidates have to write the answers in the provided “Answer Book”.

Qualified candidates in CEED are eligible to apply for following programs offered at various institutions with specializations as mentioned below. Apart from CEED score GATE score will also be considered for admissions into M.Des. Programs offered at IISc Bangalore and IIT Kanpur.

CEED 2017
IIT Bombay has announced the CEED 2017 dates and exam is scheduled to be conducted on 22nd of January, 2017. Aspirants can apply through online, applications are accepted from 17th October and last date of applying online with regular fee is 11th November 2017.
IIT Bombay is accepting CEED 2017 applications with a late fee of Rs 500/- (additional to the regular application fee) from 12th November till 18th November 2017. Exam will be held at 19 test cities across India and exam will be conducted in a single session from morning 10:00AM to 1:00PM.
Application Process
Aspirants willing to appear to test have to register online on CEED 2017 website and have to pay a sum of Rs 2200/- (Rs 1100/- for SC/ST/female) to complete the application form. During the application process candidates have to upload all the required documents like photograph, scanned signature, degree certificate or certificate from the principle and other relevant documents. Application form is not required to be forwarded in hard copy to IIT Bombay.
CEED 2017 Admit Cards
Candidates who applied for CEED 2017 can download the admit cards from 26th December 2016 to 21 January 2017. Admit card contains photograph and signature of the candidate and need to be carried to the test center along with a valid id proof.
While attending the CEED 2017 exam candidates can bring their own pencils, sketch pens, poster colors and any other drawing materials.
CEED 2017 Results and Merit Lists
After concluding the CEED 2017 exam, draft answer key will be published on 28th January 2017. After taking concerns of the candidates, a final answer key for PART A will be published on 2nd February 2017. IIT Bombay will announce the results for CEED 2017 on March 10th 2017 and score cards will be made available for download from 15th March 2017. Merit lists will be prepared on the basis of performance in the Part B alone and Part A scores are used only to shortlist the candidates for Part B assessment. Validity of the CEED 2017 score card is one year.
