BITS Admission Test (BITSAT 2017) is conducted by Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani (BITS) to admit eligible candidates into integrated first degree programmes offered at 3 campuses across India. BITS has campuses at Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad offering education in engineering/ technology and science stream.
BITSAT is conducted once in a year and exam is conducted in computer based online mode (CBT). BITSAT 2017 Exam will be conducted at national and international test centers on specific dates in morning and afternoon sessions.
BITSAT scores are also used to admit eligible candidates into engineering programmes at NIIT university.
BITSAT 2017 Schedule
BITS has announced the BITSAT 2017 test schedule and the exam will be conducted from 16th May to 30th May 2017 in different slots. On each exam day the exam will be conducted in two slots. Morning session will be conducted from 9:00AM to 12:00PM and afternoon session will be conducted from 2:00PM to 5:00PM.
Eligibility Criteria for BITSAT 2017
Citizenship / Domicile requirements
Admission to BITS campuses are open to both Indian and foreign nationals. India nationals have to attend BITSAT 2017 admission test and need to meet the academic eligibility criteria mentioned below to get eligible for admissions.
Academic eligibility
- Candidate shall pass 10+2 from any state / central recognized board or equivalent exam with Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry as major subjects with sufficient English proficiency.
- Candidates applying for B.Pharm shall pass 10+2 from any state / central recognized board or equivalent exam with Mathematics /Biology, Physics, Chemistry as major subjects with sufficient English proficiency.
- An aggregate of 75% in Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics/Biology with 60% minimum in individual subject is essential in 10+2 exam.
- Candidates who are appearing qualifying exam in 2017 or who already passed in 2016 are only eligible to apply for BITSAT 2017.
- Candidates who already enrolled and studying in any of BITS Pilani campuses are not eligible to appear for exam.
BITSAT online test 2017 Exam pattern
BITSAT 2017 is an objective type test conducted online in Computer Based Test mode. Test takers have to answer on a computer screen using keyboard and mouse. Important things to know about BITSAT 2017 exam pattern are listed below. The questions for Part 4 will be delivered as per the candidate’s selection (either mathematics or biology) during the application form filling.
- Test paper will be delivered in English language
- Test paper will have 150 MCQ type questions which shall be answered within duration of 180 minutes.
- Test paper consists of 4 parts.
- Each question will have 4 options with single correct answer
- Every correct answer will fetch 1 mark and 1 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer
- There is no time limit to answer individual part and no sequence of answering
- Candidates can review/change any question within given time
- Testing platform will deliver extra 12 questions for those students who completed 150 questions within the 180 minutes without leaving single question unanswered
Test paper will have 4 parts i.e. Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology and English. The candidates opted for biology will be only considered for B.Phrama. admissions. Here is table listed below with part wise subjects and distribution of questions.

BITSAT 2017 Syllabus
BITS admission test 2017 question paper will be based on syllabus prescribed by NCERT for mathematics, physics, biology and chemistry subjects of 11th and 12th class. English part will be general in nature and test the candidate’s proficiency in language skills and reasoning abilities. Detailed part wise syllabus mentioned below.

BITSAT 2017 application form
The candidates willing to appear BITSAT 2017 have to apply through online only. BITS had made available the online application form and last date to apply is 06th March 2017. BITS is accepting online applications and candidates have to register by providing full name, gender, Dob and email id to start with. The applicants will receive BITSAT application number which shall be used for login to fill the application form.
Candidates have to fill the following sections in the application form and have to select the test center where he/she wishes to appear the exam.
- Personal details (Name, Gender, DoB, email-id, father name, mother name, nationality, address…etc)
- 12th Academic details (name of the institution, examination board, year of passing)
- Choice of subject in Part-4 (either mathematics or biology)
- 3 test center preferences ( only for candidates appear in India)
Applicants can give 3 test center choices and BITS will allot the available test center upon candidates demand. The candidate, who opt for Dubai test center will not be given 2nd and 3rd preferences. After filling all the necessary details candidates can proceed for upload of scanned images. In this section candidates have to upload the soft copy of recent photograph and signature in prescribed format and size.

BITSAT 2017 application fee payment
The candidates who successfully uploaded the images can proceed for fee payment. The application fee has to be paid online through credit card / debit card / net banking or by ICICI bank e-challan. The candidates appearing test with in India have to pay Rs.2750/- (Rs. 2250/- for female candidates) against application fee and who wish to appear at Dubai center have to pay Rs 4000/- ($60) as application fee.
The candidates who selected fee payment through ICICI bank e-challan have to remit the requisite fee at nearest ICICI branch and have to update the payment details online.
BITSAT 2017 test centers
BITS admission office is organizing the exam at 46 test cities across India to facilitate maximum candidates and one test center at Dubai for international candidates. Here is the list of available test cities for selection.

BITSAT 2017 test date reservation
After successful completion of BITSAT 2017 application form, BITS admission office will announce the test center allotment on 15th March 2017. The candidates who are allotted with a test center (with in a test city) have to reserve the test day and slot which is allowed between 15th April and 10th May 2017. The candidates have to login using BITs application number & DOB and have to select the available test date and slot.
BITSAT 2017 admit card
The candidates who have successfully registered for BITSAT 2017 admission test can download the Hall ticket from the BITS admissions website. BITS will not send any hard copy of hall ticket by post or email to the candidate. Only hall ticket will be allowed to carry inside the test centers. Hall tickets will be allowed to download from 15th of April to 10th May 2017.
On the test day candidates have to produce the printout of the hall ticket to the invigilator. The candidates photograph and finger print will be taken at the time of test and will be matched at the time of admissions.
BITSAT 2017 scores and merit lists
The candidates who completed the online test will immediately receive the result and computer will display the number of correct and number of wrong answers with total score. BITS will only display individual scores and no merit list will be published.
BITS admission for 2017 academic year
Admission for first degree integrated programmes will be purely based on BITSAT online test merit and options exercised by the candidates.
The candidates who attain the admission eligibility by scoring 75% in 10+2 (60% in mathematics, physics and chemistry individually) and appeared in BISAT 2017 have to apply for admissions. The candidates have to submit the admission form along with marks in 10+2 and program preferences to the admission office between 20th May and 30th June 2017. More details about admissions will be updated on BITS website by 20th May 2017.
BITS admissions office will prepare merit list cum first admission list for candidates applied for admissions only based on BITSAT scores and will announce on 1st of July 2017. There will be 2 merit lists, one for all available courses except B.Pharma. and other merit list for only B.Pharma course.
BITS direct admission to board toppers
BITS offer direct admission to the first rankers of respective state and central boards for 2017 academic year. Toppers will be facilitated with direct admission to their choice of course without BITSAT 2017 score who meet the eligibility criteria. Details about direct admissions to board toppers will be updated on BITS admission website by 20th May 2017.
